ABC TV, formerly known as ABC1, is an Australian national public television network. It is owned and operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and is the flagship ABC Television network. Almost all Australians can access ABC television, which broadcasts state and national news, weather, emergency warnings, and a mix of entertainment, including sport and regional or rural matters. The ABC is guided by the ABC Charter, editorial policies and codes of practice. The role of the ABC is to provide services that inform, educate and entertain all Australians. It must reflect the diversity of interests in the Australian community through a range of distinctive programs of broad and specialist appeal.
