Euronews is a pan- European, multilingual, 24-hour international news television channel created on January 1, 1993 and based in Brussels, Belgium. The network began broadcasting on 1 January 1993 and covers world news from a European perspective. In 1993, the channel was created by 10 European public audiovisual groups to compete with the American CNN International . Its trademark is not to have an on-air presenter, positioning itself as a “pure and direct news channel” . A radio version has existed since October 2012, Euronews radio and since January 2016, a sister channel, Africanews. Euronews broadcasts in 14 languages on terrestrial, satellite, cable, IP television and the Web . It is also available in hotels, airlines and shipping companies, international airports, railway stations, university campuses, and its programs are partially taken up by foreign television channels.
